Mutual of Omaha’s Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICOFR) team is seeking a motivated individual to collaborate with business partners and ensure the accuracy and reliability of our financial reporting. As a member of the ICOFR team, you will work closely with management, internal and external auditors, and state examiners to verify and enhance our internal control framework. You will utilize reporting tools and analytical skills to evaluate trends and identify areas of risk.

Our ICOFR team plays a critical role in maintaining the effectiveness of our financial reporting controls, supporting regulatory compliance, and improving the efficiency of our financial operations. We are looking for a proactive individual with a keen eye for detail and a passion for strengthening internal controls, driving process improvements, and ensuring robust financial reporting. WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:

  • Estimated Salary: $80,000-$86,000, plus annual bonus opportunity.
  • Benefits and Perks, 401(k) plan with a 2% company contribution and 6% company match.
  • Regular associates working 40 hours a week can earn up to 15 days of vacation each year.
  • Regular associates receive 11 paid holidays in 2025, which includes 2 floating holidays that are added to your prorated personal time to be used at your discretion.
  • Regular associates are provided sick leave through the use of personal time. Associates working 40 hours a week can receive up to 40 hours of personal time in 2025, which is prorated based on the start date. Additionally you will receive two floating holidays in 2025 by way of personal time that may be used at your discretion.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Annual Risk Assessment: Develop and produce the annual risk assessment for the Model Audit Rule (MAR) program, including test plans and certification reports for executive management approval.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Oversee the progress of our testing team, ensuring smooth collaboration and timely completion of tasks. Address inquiries from internal and external auditors. Proactively follow up on missing information to keep processes moving forward, and report key findings or control deficiencies to management.
  • Collaboration: Partner with management across the company to design and implement or enhance internal controls. Monitor the progress of remediation plans for identified control deficiencies.
  • Training: Review and improve the annual MAR training provided to business partners. Provide training and support to business on internal control procedures and financial reporting requirements.
  • Innovation: Contribute ideas on leveraging newly implemented systems or tools to automate controls, simplify control testing, and enhance MAR processes.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • Experience:  Minimum of 2 years of audit experience with the ability to coordinate audit work with various control owners, testing team, and external auditors. 
  • Communication Skills: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in verbal, non-verbal, and written formats with outside auditors and internal business partners, tailoring content, and approach to diverse audiences.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong analytical acumen and excellent organizational skills, with a proven ability to handle and prioritize multiple and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment, demonstrating flexibility and resilience in the face of changing circumstances.
  • You promote a culture of diversity and inclusion, value different ideas and opinions, and listen courageously, remaining curious in all that you do.
  • Able to work remotely with access to a high-speed internet connection and located in the United States or Puerto Rico.

PREFERRED:

  • Prefer a CPA.
  • Preference for IT system audit experience or a programming background.
